A Supreme Court bench comprising of Justices Ranjan Gogoi, Navin Sinha and K M Joseph has asked CBSE to respond within six weeks to its as to why they are not following court orders and charging a fee of upto Rs 1200 from the students for obtaining copies of evaluated sheets.

CBSE had issued a notification wherein they were charging Rs 1000 and Rs 1200 respectively from the students of Class 10 and 12 for obtaining their evaluated sheets which, according to the contempt plea filed, was a wilful and deliberate disobedience to the 2011 verdict stating the it is the fundamental and legal right of the students to access their evaluated sheets under the RTI Act. The plea also asks to direct CBSE to follow the provisions of 2005 RTI Act and charge fees as prescribed under 2012 Rules
